Rui Pedro travelling
musician!
Five years ago, this
Portuguese musician from Aveiro started
travelling around Europe ,in a Toyota van
where he sleeps, performing on the streets,
bars and festivals of the places he was
passing through.
This experience was
decisive in his choice to become a
professional travelling musician.
Accompanying himself with
guitar and the adufe (portuguese percussion
instrument), he sings popular portuguese songs
and others he learns while he’s travelling
around.
Among his influences are:
J.Afonso / J.Brel / Brassens / L.Cohen /
P.Conte / T. Waits / B. Holliday
In 10/2005 he presented his
new show “Andarilho” in Santiago Alquimista in
Lisbon with a percussionist/drummer,
doublebass and an invited Flamenco dancer.
The show has been conceived
as a journey through Mediterranean Europe.
Fado and Portuguese folk music have a strong
presence. The journey includes the inevitable
flavour of Flamenco passing Sevilla and sounds
from other places that Rui Pedro will try to
make you feel.
In the present time he’s
travelling in Portugal presenting himself
solo.
He also works as an invited
musician in the “Soñar Flamenco” show with the
dance company LUNARES (www.raquel-oliveira.com) |
